In 1973 he was appointed as the Chief Park Interpreter of Fundy National Park.

In 1973 he was one of the participants in the organizing meeting at Dorset ON for the Association of Canadian Interpreters (the fore-runner of Interpretation Canada.) He was appointed as the Chief Park Interpreter of Gros Morne National Park. "Some of my best and some of my worst memories of work relate to the ten plus years I spent in interpretation and outdoor education." He was appointed as the Park Ecologist in Gros Morne National Park.

He retired in 1998. "I would like to see more commitment, though, especially from higher management within our organization. Cynics would counter that we aren't working hard enough. Perhaps the answer to that is: we worked too hard at what we are dedicated to, and not hard enough polishing our image. Looks like we have to keep shootin' as long as we have a soldier left."
