Dr. Colin Levings states "He was born in London England and came to Vancouver in 1951 with his parents.
He studied engineering and management science at UBC and was a pioneer in fostering a systems approach to sustainable development, often with a focus on aquatic life.
He founded a major consulting company based in Vancouver. served overseas with international agencies and was Executive Director of the Stockholm Environmental Institute. After retirement he founded a marine education centre and aquarium in Gibsons BC now known the Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre."
