He came from Newfoundland at the time of his recruitment into the navy.
Militärdienst
He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Operator (3rd Class) RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/03/1916).
In 1917 he served in HMCS Grilse (patrol vessel) as a Wireless Telegraph Operator.
In 1916 he survived the sinking of HMCS Grilse. (He was demobilized.)
