He was a student at the time of his recruitment into the navy.
He was appointed as a Wireless Telegraph Operator (4th Class) RNCVR (With seniority dated 01/08/1917).
In 1918 he served in HMCS Niobe as Additional for Wireless Telegraph Duty. (He was demobilized.)
