Biografía
He sailed from Atlantic ports before arriving in California as Second Mate on a Boston clipper in 1853.
He sailed steamboats on the Sacramento river on the Queen City, Eclipse, Antelope and Chrysopolis.
He voyaged in the Lucy L. Hale to Esquimalt, later returning to BC waters. (He was qualified as a Master Mariner.) He served as Master of the Maggie, Ada, Robert Dunsmuir, Western Slope, Ameluia, City of Nanaimo.
He owned one-third of the Robert Dunsmuir and was Manager and shareholder in the Mainland & Nanaimo Steam Navigation Co.
