He was awarded the George Medal (with Able-Seaman Pierre Georges Bouchard RCN), for his part in the rescue of Lt. George A. Caldwell RCN, the pilot of a Tracker anti-submarine aircraft from 88O Squadron which crashed on take off at Shearwater, August 20, 1959.
