Anecdotes

"The connection between the University of Toronto (U of T) and Osgoode Hall is largely historical and stems from a rivalrous past, though they now collaborate on some outreach initiatives, such as the LAWS program. Historically, U of T's Faculty of Law and Osgoode Hall Law School were in direct competition, with the Law Society of Upper Canada initially refusing to recognize U of T's degree-granting status, leading to a historic student protest at Osgoode Hall in the 1950s. Today, Osgoode Hall Law School is part of York University, and the two institutions' law faculties partner on initiatives like the Law in Action Within Schools (LAWS) program, a youth outreach initiative. Historical Connection & Rivalry. The Law Society began to credit U of T law graduates for admission to the Ontario bar in 1958, following years of debate."
