He was living in Seal Cove, Fogo Newfoundland at the time of his recruitmnent.
He was appointed as a Leading Seaman (Newfoundland RNR).
He served in HMS Bayano (armed merchant cruiser) 1915. (He was killed 11/03/1915 when HMS Bayano was torpedoed and sunk by U.27 in North Channel.)
