He did an Apprenticeship with CNR. After his naval service he worked with Victoria Machinery Depot Ltd. and on the BC Legislature staff.

He joined the Winnipegg Division RCNVR 1929.
He served in HMCS Skeena 1935. (Transferred to RCN 1937).
He served in HMCS Fraser 1937.
He served in NSHQ for Overseeing Construction at Levis 1940.
He served in HMCS Avalon for Base Maintenance 1943.
He was appointed as a Chief Shipwright RCN (With seniority dated 01/06/1945).
He served in HMCS Prince Robert 1945.
He served in HMCS Ontario 1947. (CFR).
He was appointed as an A/Commissioned Constructor RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1950).
He served in HMCS Naden for HMC Dockyard Esquimalt 1950.
He was appointed as a Commissioned Constructor RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1950).
He served in HMCS Naden for HMC Dockyard Esquimalt 1953.
He was appointed as a Constructor Lieutenant (Star) RCN (With seniority dated 01/04/1956).
He served in HMCS Naden for Overseeing Staff West Coast 1958. (He was retired 10/10/1959.)
