(She was qualified as a Master Mariner).
In 1937 she was qualified as a tug skipper in Port Alberni BC, the first so-qualified in Canada.
She is reputed to have been the first woman in British Columbia to have been qualified to command a tug, which operated in Port Alberni Harbour.
