He was married but his wife died two years afterwards.
He came to Victoria from Dorsetshire in 1850 in the Norman Morrison.
He married secondly an Alaskan woman. His son was George Hunt and his daughter Mrs. Wilson. His grandson was William Cadwalleder.
He was the last Factor at Fort Rupert. The post was sold to him in 1873. His descendents remained in the Fort Rupert and Port Hardy area.
