He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RCN. (CFR).

He was appointed as a Commissioned Officer RCN (With seniority dated 14/08/1961).

He was appointed as an Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 14/08/1961).

He was appointed as a Lieutenant (LD) RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1964). (He was released 1969.)

He resigned from the Navy in 1969 and joined the Fundy Gypsum Company sailing the gypsum ships out of Hantsport. Claude ended his working life as a member of the Atlantic Pilotage Authority first at Port Hawkesbury then in Sydney and retiring from his position in 1990 while living in Maces Bay near Saint John, N.B.
