He was the younger brother of J.W. Farris.
He joined his brother in 1908 with John Emerson in Revelstoke BC as Farris, Farris & Emerson.
In 1916 he returned to Vancouver BC to practice.
He was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia in 1942.
