He was the Registrar General and and Acting Attorney General 1871.
He was a Member of the Legislative Council of Vancouver Island 1861-62.
He was a Member of the Legislative Council of British Columbia 1861-71.
In 1871 he moved to Sierra Leone for the civil service but died of fever.
