He was originally named as as Karl Hultengren.
He arrived in Revelstoke in 1885.
He went prospecting and placer mining on Lardeau Creek near Trout Lake BC. With his partner Tom Downs he established the Silver Cup and the Broadview Claims.
He helped to establish the Revelstoke Water, Light and Power Co. in 1896-1902.
He was a director of the Revelstoke, Trout Lake and Big Bend Telephone Co. in 1897-1918.
In 1898-99 he owned the Victoria Hotel in Revelstoke BC.
He was a partner in the Enterprise Brewery in 1897.
