In 1948 he moved to Victoria BC.
In 1972 he was elected as an Alderman of Victoria BC.
In 1975-1979 he was elected as the Mayor of Victoria BC.
He was appointed as a Director of the BC Ferry Corporation.
In 1985 he served on the National Parole Board.
