After his air force service he was an insurance agent.
He was a Liberal Member of Parliament for Comox-Alberni in 1974.
He was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Parliamentary Secreatry to the Minister of fisheries.
He served as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Affairs and national Defence.
He was a delegate to the Law of the Sea Conference and to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg France.
He later served several terms as a City Councillor in Port Alberni.
He was the owner of Thunderbird Insurance there.
He was a member and later Chair of the Port Alberni Harbour Commission.
