Biografía
He was the son of William John MacDonald.
He was court martialled and found not to be negligent in the grounding of the Niobe in 1910. This was the culmination of the third court martial in the Royal Canadian Navy.
Servicio militar
He was appointed as a Midshipman RN.
He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RN.
He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN.
He was appointed as a Commander RN (With seniority dated 31/12/1904). (He was lent from the RN to the RCN).
He served in HMCS Niobe (In command) 1910.
He served as Honorary AdC to Governor General. (He retired to Canada from the RN.)
