He attended McGill University. After his naval service he opened a Chartered Accounting practice in Montreal QC.

He was appointed as a Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 28/021942).
He served in HMCS Kings (Officer Training Establishment) 1942.
He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR.
He served in HMCS Moncton 1942.
He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 11/05/1943).
He qualified as an anti-submarine officer.
He served in HMCS Avalon on Staff of Captain (D) 1943.
He served in HMCS Givenchy on Staff of Commander (D) 1944.
In 1945 he served in HMCS Givenchy as Port Anti-submarine and Training Officer. (He was demobilized 02/11/1945.) He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN(R) (retired List) (With seniority dated 11/05/1950). (He was released.) (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate.)
