Anecdotes
Shirley Cawley (nee Gooldrup) stated "My father (Gilbert Goodrup) gillnetted salmon and long-lined halibut in the Hecate Straits until he semi-retired from fishing. Gilbert Gooldrup built his vessels from high grade marine plywood scarfed together with glue and nails for lightweight and speed. He would take advantage of this speed and deliver his catch from mid-coast directly to Vancouver markets to take advantage of better pricing."
