Anecdotes
"this vessel was converted to pleasure use sometime before 1990 after finishing her fishing career. As of 2014 this vessel was on the hard in Seattle, WA waiting to be broken up. In 2020 this vessel was being restored by Christopher L. Stevens who states (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 28/12/2019) that "Petrel’s history is a bit thin but based on the paperwork I have this vessel was built by Sather Boatworks of B.C. in 1954. This vessel is 34′ long with a beam of 9′ and draft of 4′. This vessel is constructed of cedar on oak. Original fastenings were galvanized boat nails but this vessel was extensively refastened using galvanized screws in the late 1990s. Power is a Detroit Diesel 3-53, keel cooled with a dry stack, and a Borg Warner Velvet Drive AS-72, 2.10:1 ratio. Anecdotally, this vessel is a Canadian buy-back boat converted to pleasure use some time in the 1980s by a man named Norman Kinyon, who lived on Whidbey Island in Washington State. This vessel was purchased by Frank and Louise Allen of Anacortes, WA in 1991 and was sold in 1998 to Kristen Sandberg and Mike Mullen, who then sold her to Alan Paschal at some point after 2001. Alan Paschal sold her to Vernon Moore in 2009, who then sold her to me in 2014 (title officially transferred in 2015)."
