HMCS Malpeque was commissioned at Vancouver BC on 04/08/1941. She sailed for Halifax 13/09/1941 and arrived in October. She was assigned to the Sydney Force and then to the Newfoundland Force until 1944. She was moved to the UK for anticipated invasion of Europe and on arrival was assigned to the 31st Minesweeping Flotilla. She was present at the D-Day invasion. At the end of the War she was returned to Canada in April 1945, ostensibly for a refit at Liverpool NS Canada. In the determination of post-war requirements she was returned to the UK in Juneand she remained there until September. She was returned to Canada and paid off on 09/10/1945 into the reserve fleet at Shelburne NS Canada. In 1946 she was moved to Sorel QC and placed in strategic reserve. In 1952 she was moved to Sydney NS but was never re-commissioned. In February 1959 she was sold for scrapping.
