Anecdotes
Tom Eastley (Email to Nauticapedia 24/11/2018) recalls that "My wife and I had Dave Folkes build a 39ft sailboat for us in !986. named the Devonshire cream due to where I was born, we lived on it for about 16 years, based mostly at Granville Island in Vancouver. but we sailed it to California and north tKetchkan Alaska. Stopping at many coves and bays. It was/is / a great boat. When we stepped on it about November 1986 we were greenhorns from the prairies, never sailed a boat before. When we left it in 2004 we were seasoned sailors, The Devonshre Cream had taught us a lot. Dave Folkes had moved his works up the valley to Cultus Lake he thought he was too near transport in Vancouver! A neighbour of his at Cultis Lake was a water bomber pilot, Wes Make, an Australian, not sure exactly what year but he took over building for two years, giving Dave a break. I finished the interoir of two of these boats neither had been given names one had an oak finish inside and the other one had been modifier for living rather than sailing, the owner of this one had had is first Foulkes burn up in English Bay, It did not sink!"
