Significance of Name Soyokaze - Japanese for "gentle wind".
 
Anecdotes
In 1941 this vessel was seized from her Japanese owners by the Canadian Government. In 1942 her ownership transferred to His Majesty the King. This vessel was originally constructed as a 'cod boat'. During the Second World War the original owner was interned and the boat seized and sold as enemy property. In 1991 this vessel was at Campbell River with a double-ender design with a small wheelhouse. In 2003 the Campbell River Museum won an Outstanding Achievement Award of the Heritage Society of BC for their restoration of the vessel. In 2003 this vessel was restored to its original configuration and placed in a permanent exhibit.
