Anecdotes
In 1940 this vessel was chartered by the R.C.A.F. This vessel was used as a supply & salvage vessel (Type II) for Ucuelet, BC. The charter was however paid by the R.C.N. and the crew was from the Fishermen’s Reserve. The Judge Advocate-General stated “B.C. Lady, Combat and Snow Prince: These three vessels were requisitioned by the Director of Marine Services and do not form part of the Fishermen’s Reserve in that they were not part of the Fishermen’s Reserve prior to the outbreak of the War. It may be that these vessels are being manned by personnel who belong to the Fishermen’s Reserve, but this does not mean that the vessels themselves belong to the Fishermen’s Reserve." In 1941 this vessel was officially transferred to the RCAF Western Air Command Marine Squadron based in Vancouver BC, crewed by R.C.A.F. Marine Personnel. This vessel was wrecked on March 10, 1965 in Hecate Strait BC with seven crew lost.
