In 1945 she was built as the Fleet Escort Maintenance Ship H.M.S. Beachy Head. She was renamed as the Royal Netherlands Navy ship Vulkaan. She was returned to the Royal Navy. She was renamed as H.M.S. Beachy Head. In 1952 she was transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1953 she was renamed as H.M.C.S. Cape Scott, a Canadian Naval Escort Maintenance Ship 1959-1970.
