Anecdotes
This vessel was built in 1959 at North Vancouver BC by Burrard Dry Dock Co. Ltd., Vancouver BC and completed at Esquimalt BC by Yarrows Ltd. This vessel was commissioned into the Canadian Coast Guard as an icebreaker/lighthouse tender (carrying a helicopter). In 1969 this vessel made a partial transit of the Northwest Passage under the command of Captain J.A. Strand eastward through James Ross Strait, Peel Sound, Barrow Strait and Prince Regent Inlet. This vessel was sold by Crown Assets and Disposal Corporation for and towed August 17, 1989 from Victoria BC for scrap to Taiwan.
