Anecdotes
On August 8, 1964 this tug was towing a cement barge when the fishboat Trim II hit the towline. The fishboat owner, Al Craig and Bert Blair a crew member were killed in the incident. A man and a woman were saved. The fishboat rolled under the barge but emerged afloat although the cabin was smashed. The Our Best's Mate, Doug Singlehurst dived into the water to rescue the victims and the two survivors were picked up by a Vancouver Police boat. On December 19, 1963 this tug, under command of Captain David McDonald, burned and sank off Whytecliff BC with the loss of the Mate, Edward Rhodes. The skipper was forced into the water and was clinging to the bow when rescuers arrived.
