Anecdotes
This vessel was one of a large number of lapstrake vessels built under contract to the British Admiralty. In 2017 this vessel was being restored and maintained by Robert Lawson at Yellow Point Lodge. Colin Maclock (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group (28/05/2017) states that " this vessel was originally the captain's launch from the HMCS Ontario, salvaged at VMD in Victoria. That's where Minard Gerald (Gerry) Hill found it in 1948. He sailed it from there to Yellow Point to become the "Yellow Point Cutter". Richard Hill, his son, now skippers it with guests from the lodge on excursions around Ruxton Island to the cliffs of Valdez and back, usually stopping at some point for lunch with the drift of the tide."
