Anecdotes
On May 16, 1954 this beam trawler owned by Lawrence Doving (MO), Vancouver BC foundered two miles south of Hakai Passage on the west coast of Calvert Island QCI. This vessel was headed for Namu to pick up ice with 21,000 pounds of fish on board when this vesselhit rocks in fog. The crew attempted to make it to Namu after the accident but this vessel sank about 200 meters offshore. They crew escaped in the ship's launch.
