Anecdotes

Greg Bellevance states that "The Hornet as it was in a previous live was on the hard at Victoria Shipyards when Bellavance welding was contacted by the Oak Bay Marine Group regarding a possible purchase and refit. Gene Bellavance flew down in his Cessna L-19 Bird Dog to meet with Mr Don Pretty and it was decided that it was a sound hull potential to fulfill their needs at the lodge. The vessel was hauled to our facilities on Saltspring where it underwent a major refit to its present state as well as renamed to the "April Point Conector". Mr. Pretty was with the Oak Bay Marine Group at that time. He is currently (2016) the General Manager at Canoe Cove. I took over Bellavance Welding Ltd. in 2004 after my Dad , Gene Bellavance was killed in his floatplane. We are continuing to supply the marine industry with purpose built vessels as well as refit and rebuild work." this vessel is no longer registered in Canada.
