Anecdotes
On January 31, 1994 this vesselheeled over to starboard, took on water and sank in five minutes. The five crew members abandoned ship in the inflatable liferaft. Lonnie Edward Berrwo (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group) 26/09/2016 reports that "for towing/pushing small oil barges. This vessel found herself out of work when new regulations required twin screw boats for the fuel barges. This vessel last towed for Petrocan and her last owner was Vic Matheson of Campbell River." Mike Mercer (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group) 24/09/2016 reports that "the back up tug was the" Gulf Tide" which was used when ever the Scimitar had mechanical issues which was also owned by Gulf Towing. This vessel was brought into service after the Scimitar had an engine room fire in 1992 for more than 6 weeks."
