Anecdotes
Bill Carey states (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 08/10/2016) that "There was about a 10 year gap between the Rivtow Norseman loss and the Rivtow Hercules build. The Rivtow Norseman was built for dedicated M & B contract hauling logs from Kitimat to Port Alberni." In 1969 this vesselhit Hazard Rock off Klemtu while under tow of Rivtow Lion (dumped load and returned to Vancouver for repair of bottom damage.) On October 21,1971 under tow of Rivtow Viking, the tug towline broke in a storm and the Rivtow Norseman went ashore on Cox Island BC. and broke up. This vessel was a total loss.
